A little while ago, I got the chance to shoot a few engagements for a few different clients who have all now been married! Congrats!!
I thought I would take this opportunity to showcase some of the pictures from both the engagement shoot, and the wedding! Special thanks to Courtney from Precious Photography (http://preciousphotography.ca/blog/) for being there and helping setup some of the shots!
The first couple, Courtney and I did their engagement shoot at Gairloch Gardens. The wedding was held in Gage Park in Brampton. After doing some of the getting ready photos at the house, we went down to Gage Park. The wedding ceremony was very nice, lots of guests, and onlookers in the park! Who doesn’t love a wedding right? There is a gazebo right in the middle of Gage Park, and that’s where the ceremony took place. After the ceremony was over, we had a little time to do some family and friends shots at the fountain in the park. Then it was off to the reception at Fuzion Banquet Hall in Mississauga.
So without further adieu… The pictures!

I’ve noticed recently, while checking my website stats, that many people reach my site while looking for a boudoir photographer. I’ve dabbled a little bit on the wild side, but, I think I’m going to start offering boudoir! What do you think? I think it’s a great idea!
Now, how does one sell a service, without showing potential clients samples? Almost impossible! So, for a limited time, I am offering FREE BOUDOIR PHOTOGRAPHY. In exchange for you being a model, you’ll receive all of the images shot, on DVD, in full resolution, without any watermarks!
I’ll advise you which images I plan to use in my portfolio, and you’ll have the final say as to if you want that one shown or not. Your privacy is of utmost importance!
Simply email me and mention that you saw this blog post to arrange YOUR free shoot!

Thanks to everyone who got the free engagement sessions done! I had a great time doing them with you guys, and got some really great images! Here are a few from a recent shoot. Hope you enjoy!

Wedding photography in Mississauga can be a challenge. There is so much competition, there’s emailing, advertising, pricing, phone calls, then following up, all whilst trying to ensure that the website is up to date, the blog is taken care of, images are processed, products delivered and clients happy. Is it easy? No! Is it rewarding? Damn right!
Whether doing wedding photography in Mississauga, or wedding photography in Toronto, or even wedding photography in Oakville. The challenges are one and the same. I’m glad that I’m based out of Mississauga though. It’s very central, and convenient if a meeting has to take place in Toronto, or even further like Markham, etc. There are plenty of places to take photographs in Mississauga, and they’re all beautiful.
I can’t wait for my next wedding!

I had photographed a wedding in the Toronto Harbour during the summer months. It was a nice setup in the Toronto Musical Gardens. Just a semi-short walk from Union Station, if you have a little energy. I thought that I’d share!
It was a quick afternoon ceremony, followed by a cruise around the harbour. I didn’t attend the cruise, though the boat was nicely decorated and the couple was a blast to work with, easy-going and relaxed! We didn’t have a LOT of time before the cruise departed, so we made the most of what we had.
Here are a few images from the wedding!

Well, I hope everyone had a nice Christmas!
If you got engaged over the holidays, CONGRATS!! The Christmas holidays, and new years eve is a very popular time for couples to get engaged. The love is in the air, and family is all around.
Engagement photography is an important part of your wedding photography package. It’s a time for you to get to know your photographer. A time for you to get used to being in front of the lens. Engagment photographs will show you your photographer’s style. You’ll get to talk to your wedding photographer, see how they’ll perform, and what to expect. You’ll become familiar with what wedding products are available, and what they’ll cost. You’ll be able to use the photos to create framed photo mats that can be signed at the reception, then hung in your home, in stead of a traditional guest book that you look at once and put away in storage. You can even change out the engagement photo for a finished wedding photograph once you have the prints.
There are plenty of wedding photography sites in Mississauga and Oakville. I’ve seen some great places to get wedding and engagement photos done.
If you haven’t gotten engaged as of yet, and you’re looking to do so over the new year’s celebrations, good luck! A popular thing to do now is have the actual engagement photographed. You can really get some great reactions from this! Something to think about!

I just wanted to take a moment and wish everyone a Merry Christmas from Dennis Larkin Photography!

What’s a recession? As defined by google: “the state of the economy declines; a widespread decline in the GDP and employment and trade lasting from six months to a year”
That being said; are we even IN a recession? Have you been hit? Has your industry been hit? There seems to be a recession among the auto industry. One thing to remember is to not panic! There is ALWAYS light at the end of the tunnel! The government will always see to it that we come OUT of the recession.
In wedding photography, there are some regions that seem to be hit more than other places. Some are reporting that business is actually UP. In my opinion, this is the direction that it should be heading! You should want to preserve your wedding memories. You should want to get the most out of your wedding. There are 2 things that you’ll remember years after your wedding. The food, and the photographs! Picking your wedding photography package is as important as picking your wedding photographer! Most wedding photographers, including myself take great care when handling, and storing your digital files, however we can only hold on to them for so long. So in short, you’ll want to make sure that you invest right in the beginning because if something happens, you might be left without some prints you really wanted!
So to summerize, don’t short yourself in the long-run by thinking short term. Photography for your wedding is an investment in memories, make sure you choose the right place to spend your money, and think of what you’re getting in return for it.
